To perform many different material cleaning and preparation duties, to include operating the blast room, as well as assisting other employees at the direction of the supervisor.

• Use hand or air operated wire brush, chisel, sanding disc, etc. 
• Use air operated grinding tools. 
• Operate shot blast room and equipment wearing an air supplied hood and protective clothing. 
• Masking, sealing, and preparing items for blast.  Properly positioning and landing production parts on the blast cart for the blasting process using an overhead crane as necessary.        Moving and positioning blasted production parts in the Fabrication Shop for proper process flow.  
• Receive assignments and instructions from supervisor, both verbal and written. 
• Be able to read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth by Manufacturing Practices and Standard Practice, Engineering Change Orders, and blueprints when performing assigned work.  
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures and actively participate in defined zero harm safety culture driven initiatives.

TOOLS AND MACHINERY

Overhead cranes, portable grinders, hand held tools such as a drill, saw, adjustable wrench, screw drivers, etc.  Blast Room equipment to include job cart, ladders, blast hose and other required blasting equipment.

MATERIALS

• Grinding discs.
• Personal protective equipment to include blast shield, air supplied hood for blasting, protective overalls, fall protection harness and tether, goggles, leather gloves, steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and hearing protection.

GENERAL

Works under general supervision.  Able to layout materials and setup for tasking.  Work varies from working at ground level to working in, on top of, and around the sides of the unit, which may be 6 feet or more in height.   Work involves exposure to fumes, smoke, and handling of steel.  Must be able to wear air-supplied hood and protective clothing for blast booth.  Operates cranes to lift production parts, to include tanks and other fabricated parts, for blasting or other production requirements.  

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
