Gadget Assembler/Labeler/Packer

Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) is seeking a legally blind candidate to join the CABVI team as a Gadget Assembler. CABVI is a private not-for-profit agency with a long and respected tradition of offering employment and services to people who are blind or visually impaired. CABVI is ISO 9001 Registered.

CABVI is seeking to fill Gadget Assembler/Labeler/Packer positions. These are full-time or part-time positions, 7.5 hour days in a union environment. The Gadget Assembler / Labeler / Packer position is responsible for assembly and preparing of kitchen gadget products.

This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing. The pay rate for this position is $10.61/hour. This rate is set by a contract and is not negotiable. This is a terrific position for someone who is currently receiving SSDI but is looking to make extra income!

Job Duties:

  • Assembles the components of various types of kitchen gadgets, lighting and other products according to customer specifications and Industries Program standards for quality, production rate, and safety.
  • Attaches backing cards or other product packing and identification to products using twist ties, staples, cable ties, or other means.
  • Counts, packs, and labels boxes of kitchen gadgets or other products
  • Operates machines including the riveter, spinomatic, stitcher, jammer, screw drivers, wrenches or other handheld assembly equipment, using all safety precautions available (foot pedals, etc.)
    • Identifies equipment problems and malfunctions during production use, notifies Line Coordinator / Supervisor of any issues in a timely manner.
  • Conducts periodic examinations, visually or by feel, of assembly to ensure they are being assembled properly. Handles defective materials appropriately.
  • Performs other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications: (including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, licenses, certifications, and other characteristics)

  • Ability to work both independently and with other team members
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor a must

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to manually grasp, assemble, and pack products
  • Ability to perform work safely using hand buttons and / or foot pedals, etc.
  • Ability to continuously move hands and arms in a repetitive motion while in a seated position

Work Environment:

  • Light industrial indoor manufacturing environment with minimal exposure to noise or other occupational hazards. Job functions are performed at a seated workstation or standing.
  • Approved PPE must be worn at all times.
