**Heat Treat Operator – 2nd Shift
Location: Berlin, CT**
Pay: $20–$23/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM–12:30 AM
We are seeking a Heat Treat Operator to join a manufacturing team in Berlin, CT. This position is responsible for operating and monitoring heat treat equipment to process metal components according to customer specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed work instructions in a production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate heat treat furnaces, quench systems, tempering ovens, and related equipment
- Load and unload metal components using proper material handling procedures
- Set up and monitor furnace temperatures, cycle times, and process settings based on work instructions
- Ensure parts are processed according to customer requirements and engineering specifications
- Perform inspections on finished parts, including checking hardness, distortion, and surface condition
- Complete production records, heat treat logs, and quality documentation
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any issues to supervisors or maintenance
- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S standards
- Work with supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams to address production concerns
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standards
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or heat treating experience preferred
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and process documentation
- Familiarity with measuring tools and quality inspection methods
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with vacuum, atmosphere, or induction heat treating equipment
- Knowledge of hardness testing and basic metallurgical processes
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work 2nd shift, Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM–12:30 AM
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs
