Rogers Group is currently seeking a Fuel Truck Technician for the Huntsville, AL SMA, reporting to the Shop Manager. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Fuel Truck Driver/Operator with Tanker and HAZMAT Endorsements Required
  • Assists Fuel Truck Driver; refuels company equipment and vehicles, to include but not limited to dump trucks, tractor trailers and heavy equipment.
  • Checks vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate.
  • Checks tires, headlights, marker lights, stop lights and turn signals.
  • Checks engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant level, fan belts and windshield wipers.
  • Keeps floorboards, stepping areas, and hand holds free of trash, grease, rags or other obstructions that hinder operation.
  • Constantly monitors company radio for change of assignment and dispatch.
  • The Fuel Truck Helper position requires an extreme amount of body movement and some manual labor including, but not limited to leg movement, wrist and arm movement, operating of controls, manual labor, and performing daily maintenance
  • Adheres to all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, including but not limited to the safety manual, the employee handbook, and the fleet safety manual.
  • Answers directly to the Fuel Truck Supervisor.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend and twist at waist, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee is occasionally required to work long hours, (normal work hours average 10 to 12 hours per day; conditions may dictate up to 15 hours to complete the project).

Qualifications:

  • CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT Endorsements Required
  • Must adhere to company policy to receive a current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Ability to apply common sense of understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to get along with others.
  • Displays a positive attitude.
  • Presents a professional image as an employee.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful traffic or other situations.
  • Ability to work evenings and nights as needed, to support construction operations.
