Job Title: Nutrunner & Servo Press Repair & Field Service Technician

Department: Fastening/Servo Systems 

Reports To: General Manager

DESCRIPTION: 

As a Repair & Field Service Technician, you will utilize customer communication skills, and the mechanical and electrical knowledge to repair, troubleshoot, modify and test complex technical problems on Nutrunner & Servo Press products. This position is requires work Monday through Friday at our shop floor, and home on weekends. While travel is required for the field service, Repair & Field Service Technicians typically stay in a hotel nearby the customers’ facility. It could be both weekday and/or weekend. Travel is primarily throughout the US, but can be international in some cases as well. Though our repair services are provided at our shop floor in majority of cases, field services and installation of the products are provided on-site at our customer’s facilities and via telephone if the situation permits. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Diagnose technical problem of the products, repair and calibrate them mostly at our shop floor 
  • Travel to customer locations to diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repair
  • Travel to customer locations to install the products at customers’ site
  • Examine tools mechanically and electrically in order to perform repairs by dismantling tools and rebuilding as needed
  • Diagnose technical problems and troubleshoot via telephone
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with customers
  • Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problems
  • Document in detail product problems and resolutions
  • Other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of fastening and assembly processes
  • Ability to use basic hand-tools
  • Ability to operate a computer with windows operating systems
  • Comfort in working with abrasive chemicals to clean parts
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Work with small parts in the rebuild or repair of mechanical components
  • Able to be comfortable working with heights
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates or technical degree preferred
  • A background in field service within the automotive industry preferred
  • Experience with electrical measurement and calibration techniques (voltmeter and other calibrating equipment)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems (servo motors, bearings, gearing, ball screws and moving systems)
  • General understanding of PLCs and pneumatics preferred but not required
  • Experience in Mechanical measurement and inspection techniques (indicators, micrometers and calipers) 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job operates mainly indoors, but may be exposed to changing weather conditions, such as extreme hot or cold, rain, sun, wind, etc. This job also works near moving mechanical parts and the noise level is moderate to loud. As customer visits are required, abiding by all customer imposed local laws and regulations will be required for on-site support. This position generally has a lot of driving and overtime work. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license is required.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

This job requires very frequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, standing, speaking and hearing and frequent kneeling. Repetitive use of the hands, squeezing, keyboarding and crouching. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of 1-10 pounds, recurrent lifting of 11-20 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying of 21-50 or more pounds. Also requires constant pushing and pulling of 1-50 pounds and infrequent pushing and pulling of over 50 pounds with the aid of handcarts or other wheeled devices. Good visual and color acuity are a must to perform this type of job.
