Summary:

The FSQA SC Manager will be responsible for helping maintain product integrity and food safety across four manufacturing bakeries and six co-manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities include supporting the onboarding and maintenance of Sara Lee Frozen Bakery supplies and partnering with bakeries and co-manufactures on FSMA compliance. FSQA Manager will collaborate with customer service, legal, and R&D department to provide support on regulatory and supply chain issues, customer questionnaires and FSMA compliance. This position reports to the Director of Food Safety Quality Assurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with suppliers to encourage their participation in uploading information into the Trace Gains supplier portal.
  • Manage FSQA Conditional Approvals for new suppliers and materials.
  • Manage supplier and material level documents for non-Trace Gains participants.
  • Review supplier and material documentation for dispositions via the portal and 
  • Provide corporate support to bakeries during Customer or 3rd Party Audits 
  • Maintain and update supplier contacts and material related information in the portal.
  • Compile and analyze raw material data as needed. 
  • Conduct periodic risk-based supplier audits.
  • Develop KPI’s and metrics for monitoring FSMA/SQF compliance.
  • Responsible in leading and supporting FSMA/SQF and SOP requirements and implementation.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of FDA FSMA 204 traceability requirements.
  • Support the implementation and tracking of customers’ specific FSMA 204 traceability requirements.
  • Maintain communication with plants for awareness of formulation or equipment changes that might impact products in relationship to FSMA requirements.
  • Manage co-man bakeries to ensure SLFB processes are implemented and sustained.
  • Review incoming ingredients to ensure proper assignment and relationship to the FDA Food Traceability List (FTL).
  • Review finished goods to ensure proper assignment and relationship to the FDA Food Traceability List.
  • Review root-cause-analysis and corrective actions, follow-up, resolution, close-out, track and trend, verify and validate that the corrective actions are in place, working and bringing value. 
  • Maintain and update SLFB company information in 3rd party platforms such as TraceGains. 
  • Work with R&D to make them aware of potential formulation or processing impacts based on the FTL.
  • Build and maintain compliance data reports.
  • Meet with bakeries regularly to discuss any FSMA changes or updates. 
  • Monitor co-manufacturers to ensure FSMA compliance.

Qualification and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (emphasis on Food Science, or related degree) and/or 5 years (or more) equivalent experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects.
