Job Overview:

About the Role:

The Forklift Operator on 1st and/or 2nd Shift plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials within a manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for operating forklifts to load, unload, and transport raw materials, components, and finished products to designated areas. The operator must maintain a high level of safety awareness to prevent accidents and damage to goods or equipment. Additionally, the role involves performing routine inspections and maintenance on forklifts to ensure operational reliability. Ultimately, the Forklift Operator contributes to the smooth flow of production processes by supporting inventory management and timely material handling.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid forklift operator certification or license in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Minimum of 2 year experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and understand safety guidelines and operational instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Availability to work the 2nd shift schedule as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with sit-down forklifts.
  • Basic mechanical skills to perform minor forklift maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and barcode scanning technology.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with lean or Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products and materials safely and efficiently within the facility.
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper stacking and securing of materials to prevent damage during transport.
  • Inspect forklifts daily for mechanical issues and report any malfunctions or safety hazards to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials moved and assist with inventory counts as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
