Summary/Objective  

The purpose of the forklift position is to organize product in warehouses for shipping/receiving and/or stocking purposes. Other duties include using forklifts to unload deliveries, locating, and moving stock of product to storage or shipment and picking customer orders. 

Essential Functions

• Obtain copy of production schedule or bill of lading and transport material to/from designated areas of the facility
• Examine product dates to verify quality standards
• Stack product in correct warehouse locations or replenish stock pulled for orders
• Complete paperwork
• Safely operate forklift
• Work in fast paced environment
• Ability to multitask
• Required to do basic housekeeping/sanitation duties during slow times
• Assist with training new employees     
• Other duties as assigned     

Qualifications

Competencies

• Must have the ability to accurately read, count, and match numbers
• Must be able to operate powered equipment in a safe manner

• Able to perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication
• Must apply food safety and employee safety guidelines in all performance measures

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

The work environment involves being around powered equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Intersections where work is performed may be busy. The warehouse is climate controlled.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb; or balance; and stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Full time hour schedule is subject to change with or without notice. Mandatory or voluntary overtime may be required to meet business needs.

Travel

Light travel between warehouses may be required

Education, Skills and Experience

• Must have a minimum of High school diploma or equivalent desired but not required
• 3-5 years previous experience in a warehouse setting strongly preferred
• Basis knowledge of computers required
• Previous experience training new employees is ideal
