Description

SUMMARY:  Provides graders or batchers with veneer to be graded/batched and manages veneer inventories.  Off loads and loads trucks, containers, and rail cars. Supplies lay-up with needed materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Drive forklift in a safe manner, at a quick pace
  • Off loads trucks.
  • Tag loads as they come off trucks and put them in warehouse.
  • Basic computer skills, including frequent use of  AX
  • Keep up with general maintenance on forklift (daily forklift inspections).
  • Able to support all graders achieving goal of 1800-2000 pieces per shift.
  • Unload and load trucks according to procedure.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized.
  • Must support the team in achieving all Safety, Production and Quality goals.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Able to read and understand batching list
  • Understand orientation of veneer
  • Band up completed batches

Qualifications


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Forklift certification to be obtained within first 30 days.
  3. Knowledge of using label maker and receiving station to printout tickets.
  4. Working knowledge of paint striping system on veneer.
  5. Ability to work with little or no supervision.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  1. Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to understanding and to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and work to implement solutions.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
