Do you have a pleasant personality, an aptitude for mechanics and love the satisfaction of completing a task? The Times Union is looking for a full-time Forklift Operator to join our operations team.

Primary Duties:

Safely load and unload trucks as required
Maintain accurate receiving and shipping records
Inventory and stage preprinted insert products
Newsprint scheduling, receiving, storage and inventory management
Lay down and prepare required newsprint for press use
Collect, organize and store all recyclable materials
Receive and distribute incoming packages
Assist other departments, including Hearst Media Center as required

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma.
Communication skills – must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with delivery personnel, employees, and managers both verbally and via email.
Mechanical aptitude - Must possess (or be willing to be trained and pass a test to acquire) a valid forklift operator’s license.

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. plus 4-hour shifts 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every other Saturday (alternate with Lead Fork Lift Operator) after the training and certification period is complete. Hours can vary based on training, production and vacation coverage needs.

Pay: This is a union position. Pay starts at $20.00 per hour and progresses with experience and any applicable contract terms.
