Job Summary:
OEG Building Materials, a steel manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair propane and diesel-powered forklifts. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, a solid understanding of safety standards, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on propane and diesel forklifts
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues
Perform routine inspections to ensure equipment is safe and operational
Replace or repair engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other components
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize downtime
Communicate repair needs and recommendations clearly with management
Qualifications & Requirements:
Proven experience as a forklift mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic
Hands-on experience with propane and diesel forklifts (required)
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
Valid driver’s license (forklift certification a plus)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse or outdoor environment
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Trade school or technical certification in mechanical repair
Experience with multiple forklift brands
Welding or fabrication experience a plus
Work Environment & Schedule:
Warehouse/industrial setting
Full-time (schedule may vary based on operational needs)
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour (non-exempt)
