Job Overview:


Position: Forklift Driver

Classification: Non-Exempt

Direct Supervisor: Warehouse Supervisor

Backup: Material Handler


Summary / Objective 

The Forklift Driver is responsible for operating forklifts to transport, load, and unload materials within the glass automotive manufacturing facility. This role ensures materials are moved safely and efficiently to support production and logistics operations. The driver must adhere to safety regulations and maintain accurate inventory records while handling fragile glass components.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials within the facility.

•    Load and unload trucks, ensuring materials are handled without damage.

•    Transport raw materials, finished products, and packaging supplies to designated locations.

•    Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.

•    Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper documentation of material movement.

•    Follow workplace safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

•    Assist in cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.

•    Support warehouse organization and housekeeping efforts.

•    Report any material shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

•    The role is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery.

•    Requires working in varying temperatures, depending on the season.

•    Frequent interaction with warehouse, logistics, and production teams.


Physical Demands

•    Frequent sitting, standing, and operating heavy equipment.

•    Lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

•    Ability to bend, twist, and reach in confined spaces.

•    Repetitive hand and arm movements while operating controls.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

•    Full-time position.

•    Standard shift hours with potential overtime based on operational demands.

•    Weekend and holiday work may be required.


Travel 

No travel required.


Required Education and Experience

•    High school diploma or GED.

•    Valid forklift operator certification.

•    Minimum one year of experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.


Preferred Education and Experience

•    Experience in automotive glass manufacturing.

•    Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS).

•    Additional safety training or certification
