Position Overview
A heavy manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Forging Supervisor to lead 2nd-shift production. This position is responsible for safety, production, quality, employee performance, and day-to-day operations within a forging environment.
The ideal candidate has direct experience supervising employees in forging, metals, stamping, machining, or another heavy manufacturing environment, with forging experience strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate 2nd-shift forging production activities.
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees.
- Ensure daily production, quality, and delivery targets are achieved.
- Monitor open-die or related forging operations and address production issues.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to minimize downtime.
- Enforce safety procedures, PPE requirements, and plant policies.
- Conduct shift meetings and communicate production priorities.
- Monitor employee performance, attendance, training, and productivity.
- Troubleshoot production and equipment-related issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and scrap reduction.
- Ensure work instructions, process requirements, and quality standards are followed.
- Maintain accurate production and shift documentation.
- Assist with training new employees and developing experienced operators.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience in forging, steel, metals, stamping, machining, foundry, or heavy manufacturing.
- Direct forging experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing safety and production practices.
- Experience managing production employees and holding teams accountable for performance.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with maintenance and technical teams.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Must be available to work 2nd shift.
