Traveling Flux Core Welder (ASME Pressure Vessels) Opportunities Across the United States – FlexTrades

We send our employees on 3- or 6-month contracts at various manufacturing companies nationwide throughout the year. You can choose how many assignments you take per year, and you're free to come and go as you like, as long as you successfully complete the contracts you commit to.

FlexTrades is hiring experienced Welders for upcoming manufacturing projects across industries such as vessels, aerospace, medical device manufacturing, assembling forklifts, industrial equipment, HVAC, large minig equipments manufacturing. All work is performed in indoor production environments.

Pay and Schedule

• $34 per hour (depending on contract)
• 50+ hours per week
• Overtime paid at time and a half

Travel and Benefits

• Paid travel to and from the project
• Paid lodging (single-occupancy hotel room)
• $45 per day per diem tax-free
• Employees are allowed to bring spouse, family, or pets
• **This role is NOT in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; we are using a city/state to reach people who live in this area and because our system requires us to pick a city/state.**

Position Details

We are hiring experienced Flux Core Welders/Fabricators to build large ASME-code pressure vessels and steel tanks in a heavy manufacturing environment. This position is a 6 or 8 month project that requires more than welding alone. Successful candidates must have strong fit-up, fabrication, blueprint reading, and assembly experience working with large industrial components. The ideal candidate will be capable of fitting, fabricating, and welding pressure vessel components while maintaining high quality standards and following ASME welding procedures. This role is best suited for welders who are comfortable performing fit-up, fabrication, and code-quality welding on large pressure vessels and steel tanks in a production environment. Responsibilities • Lay out, fit up, tack, fabricate, grind, clean, and weld large ASME pressure vessels and steel tanks• Perform fit-up work with typical gaps averaging 1/8"• Weld vessel components including nozzles, manways, repads, vessel heads, footpads, legs, flanges, and couplings• Perform Flux Core (FCAW) welding using .045 dual-shield wire with a 90/10 gas mixture• Perform primarily vertical uphill welding• Weld heavy plate materials • Work with both flat and round vessel components• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld callouts, AWS weld symbols, dimensions, and WPS requirements• Perform grinding, weld cleanup, and removal of spatter as required Qualifications • Flux Core (FCAW) welding experience require• Strong fabrication and fit-up experience required• Ability to weld in the vertical uphill position• Experience performing multi-pass welds• Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and AWS weld symbols• Experience following WPS requirements and welding procedures• Experience using fabrication and layout tools including tape measures, squares, levels, punches, and weld gauges• Strong attention to detail and workmanship• Ability to work safely around large vessel assemblies and heavy components• Pressure vessel or ASME Section VIII Division 1 experience strongly preferred Weld Qualification Test • 3G Vertical Uphill Flux Core plate test on SA516-70 carbon steel evaluated by X-ray to ASME standards• Dissimilar-metal weld test joining carbon steel to stainless steel evaluated by bend testing• Carbon steel to carbon steel weld test evaluated by bend testing• Practice material provided prior to testing About the Opportunity This position involves manufacturing large pressure vessels commonly ranging from 10 to 12 feet in diameter and over 20 feet in length. Candidates should be comfortable working on large fabricated assemblies and performing precise fit-up, fabrication, and welding work while maintaining strict quality standards.
