Company Overview:
My client is a well-established printing and packaging manufacturer specializing in premium, high-volume packaging solutions. The company provides integrated design, prepress, printing, converting and manufacturing services using advanced production technology.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CI Flexo Press Operator to set up, operate and monitor multicolor central-impression flexographic printing equipment. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate color, registration and print quality while meeting production, waste and safety targets.
The ideal candidate has experience operating CI flexographic presses and understands printing plates, anilox rolls, inks, web tension, registration and drying systems.
Key Responsibilities:
•Set up and operate multicolor CI flexographic printing presses.
•Review job tickets, artwork specifications, color standards and production schedules.
•Install printing plates, sleeves, anilox rolls and job-specific tooling.
•Load rolls and correctly thread material through the press.
•Set and adjust web tension, impression pressure, registration and press speed.
•Mix, prepare and monitor inks according to job specifications.
•Measure and adjust ink viscosity, pH and color density.
•Monitor drying systems, doctor blades, ink chambers and web-guiding equipment.
•Perform color matching and maintain consistent print registration throughout each run.
•Inspect printed material for defects, including color variation, poor registration, streaking, pinholing and dirty print.
•Complete press changeovers, wash-ups and job setups efficiently.
•Troubleshoot minor mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, ink and web-handling issues.
•Minimize setup time, material waste and production downtime.
•Complete production, quality, material-usage and downtime documentation.
•Perform routine cleaning, inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
•Follow Lockout/Tagout, machine-guarding, PPE and company safety procedures.
•Maintain a clean, organized and safe production area.
•Coordinate with prepress, quality, maintenance and production teams.
Required Qualifications:
•At least one year of flexographic printing or printing-services experience.
•Hands-on experience operating a CI flexographic press.
•Ability to speak and read English and interpret job tickets and technical instructions.
•Knowledge of multicolor printing, web tension and color registration.
•Experience with printing plates, sleeves, anilox rolls, doctor blades and ink systems.
•Understanding of ink viscosity, pH, color matching and drying requirements.
•Strong mechanical aptitude and minor troubleshooting capabilities.
•Ability to use measuring and quality-inspection tools.
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to print quality.
•Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
•Availability to work overtime and adjusted shifts when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience producing preprint or direct-print packaging materials.
•Experience operating wide-web, high-speed CI flexographic presses.
•Familiarity with water-based ink systems.
•Experience with automated registration, viscosity and web-inspection systems.
•Knowledge of corrugated packaging and multiple flute profiles.
•Familiarity with ISO, HACCP or direct-food-contact packaging standards.
•Basic electrical, pneumatic and preventive-maintenance experience.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
•Ability to lift and move rolls, tooling and production materials safely.
•Ability to bend, reach, climb and perform repetitive tasks.
•Ability to work around moving equipment, inks, cleaning materials and production noise.
•Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
