Job Description:
The Fleet Mechanic performs routine maintenance and repairs to fleet vehicles and related equipment.

Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Test drive trucks and other vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, and pressure gauges.
- Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
- Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, transmissions, clutches, and differential units.
- Rebuild gas or diesel engines.
- Operate, maneuver, and drive vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, trucks and combination tractor trailers.
- Communicate information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Keep up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY BE ASSIGNED
Qualifications:
- Valid class A CDL with acceptable driving record.
- Able to lift up to 60 lbs on a repeated and prolonged basis.
- OSHA certification to use power equipment.
- Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Sufficient reading skills for the position.
