Job Overview:

The Fitter Welder II is responsible for welding and fitting jobs and making sure all weldments are welded within the right welding procedures and built to print in a timely manner. Based in Fort Worth, this position will report to the Team Lead and/or Supervisor of the department and will often work alongside other members of the manufacturing team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform welding tasks effectively using FCAW and GMAW in horizontal and vertical positions. 
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings.
  • Heat form and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Properly process necessary information on production routers.
  • Perform assigned tasks under the direction of supervisor.
  • Bring technical problems encountered to supervisor.
  • Responsible for using safe working practices and for the safe operation of welding machines and equipment.
  • Work to improve efficient to achieve productivity and delivery goals.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean & organized work area; utilize safe work habits.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 – 3 yrs of experience with proficiency in the welding field.
  • Must have related experience in operation of welding equipment available in fabrication department.
  • Experience using a cutting torch, and plasma torch.
  • Must be familiar with SMAW and GMAW welding processes, competent reading, and interpretation of fabrication blueprints.
  • Experience with lay out and fit up of weldments and/or inspection of weldments.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Word, Excel and other necessary applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
  • Must be familiar with SMAW and GMAW welding processes, competent reading, and interpretation of fabrication blueprints.
  • Must be able to maintain proper organization on documentation and work areas, follow all company policies and safety measures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Able to work well in a team environment as well as self-directed when working independently. 
  • Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environment.
  • Factory environment with large range in temperature changes.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend/stoop, push/pull and repetitive movement up to 12 hours daily.
