Job Overview:

EHC is seeking a Firestop Technician Installer for a Client in the Houston Area

Job Type: Temp / Contract

Status: Full-Time

Start Date: 10/12/2026

End Date: 01/09/2027

Estimated Duration: 90 Days

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Occasional overtime may be required to support testing schedules and project deadlines.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Firestop Technician Installer to support fire testing operations in a laboratory environment. This hands-on role is ideal for candidates with construction, maintenance, or industrial experience who are interested in specialized technical work. The successful candidate will build and install firestop assemblies used in fire endurance testing and assist with test preparation, teardown activities, and routine facility maintenance.

The ideal candidate will possess strong measurement and construction skills, experience using hand and power tools, and the ability to safely handle materials. Experience with framing, drywall, concrete work, caulking, insulation, or firestopping is highly desirable. Forklift experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install firestop assemblies in accordance with test plans, industry standards, and life safety drawings.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble construction materials accurately using hand and power tools.
  • Work with materials including drywall, mineral wool, sealants, pipe insulation, concrete, and metal framing systems.
  • Build, modify, and dismantle test frames and fire-rated assemblies.
  • Assist with fire testing preparation and post-test teardown activities.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records related to test setups and installations.
  • Collaborate with engineers and laboratory personnel to evaluate and improve firestop systems.
  • Research firestop solutions using technical documentation, industry reference materials, and product directories.
  • Support routine laboratory and warehouse maintenance, housekeeping, and organization.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, laboratory protocols, and quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Construction, industrial maintenance, or related hands-on experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret tape measurements, blueprints, technical drawings, and life safety schematics.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate workmanship.
  • Reliable attendance and a willingness to learn new skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in carpentry, drywall installation, framing, insulation installation, caulking, concrete work, or firestopping.
  • Forklift operating experience.
  • Previous experience working in a testing, laboratory, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a laboratory, warehouse, and industrial testing environment. Employees may be exposed to loud noise from equipment and testing operations, as well as varying indoor and outdoor temperatures. The role requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching throughout the workday.

Candidates must be capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and using a computer for documentation and communication. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
