Position Summary

A Fire Sprinkler Inspector is responsible for performing scheduled inspections, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. This role ensures that fire protection systems operate properly and remain compliant with NFPA 25, local fire codes, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. The inspector documents all work performed, identifies deficiencies, and communicates findings to customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of:
    • Wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems
    • Fire pumps (diesel and electric)
    • Backflow prevention assemblies
    • Standpipe systems
    • Fire hydrants (as applicable)
  • Verify system functionality and code compliance in accordance with NFPA 25 and local regulations.
  • Accurately document inspection results using company-approved forms, software, or digital platforms.
  • Identify, classify, and report system deficiencies, including impaired or non-compliant equipment.
  • Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and inspection materials in proper working condition.
  • Respond to customer inquiries or site personnel with professionalism and technical clarity.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE, lockout/tagout, and company safety policies.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules and manage assigned workload effectively.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in fire protection or fire sprinkler systems, typically 5+ years in inspection, installation, or service.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 25 and fire protection system components.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire protection drawings and system schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, lift up to 50 - 70 lbs, and work in various environments.

Preferred:

  • NICET Level I–III in Water-Based Systems Inspection.
  • State-required licenses.
  • Experience with inspection software or mobile reporting tools.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role with daily travel to commercial and industrial customer sites.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $24-33 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
