Job Overview:

Forge Strategies is partnering with a growing fire protection contractor to identify a Fire Sprinkler Designer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys designing code-compliant fire protection systems while working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and large-scale construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating fire sprinkler layouts, coordinating with multiple trades, and producing detailed construction drawings for installation and permitting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fire sprinkler design drawings that maximize efficiency while meeting applicable codes and industry standards
  • Coordinate sprinkler and piping layouts with structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Develop hydraulic calculations to determine proper pipe sizing and system performance
  • Generate material stocklists for fabrication and purchasing
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings for installation teams
  • Submit drawings, applications, and supporting documentation for permits and approvals
  • Coordinate with municipalities, AHJs, and project stakeholders throughout the approval process
  • Expedite drawing approvals and address plan review comments as needed
  • Attend project and company meetings and provide status updates on active projects
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and design records
  • Support project teams with technical design information throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Experience designing fire sprinkler systems for commercial or industrial projects
  • Proficiency with AutoSprink, Hydratec, AutoCAD, or similar design software preferred
  • NICET certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and applicable building and fire codes
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
