What you will do:

Johnson Controls Fire Detection Products is searching for a Continuation and NPI Support Engineer to be located at the R&D facility in Westford, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting existing electronic analog & digital hardware for fire alarm products. This engineering support may include work on component sourcing, cost reduction efforts, investigation and resolution of post-launch product issues, and redesign work for product improvements or component obsolescence. Work may include embedded system designs, switching power supplies, front panel user interfaces, audio amplifiers, peer-to-peer networking, linear power supplies, sensors and detectors, and fiber optics. NPI support may include procurement and logistics support, process support, and implementation support (i.e. ECO work). This position is in Westford, MA, and you will be required to be onsite 3 days per week.

How you will do it:

  • Work on analog, digital, and embedded design and analysis.

  • Investigate, analyze, and solve issues related to existing products

  • Evaluate component obsolescence when they arise, and evaluate solutions

  • Help to identify and source new components

  • Investigate and execute cost reduction projects

  • Support engineering process development and execution

  • Understand how to design equipment to meet agency certifications (UL, ULC, CE, FCC).

What you will need:

  • Associate degree in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent work experience

  • 5 years in the electronics manufacturing industry or HVAC Service/Tech experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in electronics design related to analog, power, audio, or embedded products/systems

  • Discrete electronic component-level knowledge and experience

  • Experience with electronic CAD (schematic capture, circuit simulation, or related).

  • Ability to work well with others in a Team environment that spans multiple countries.
