Position Summary

The Financial Accountant is responsible for assisting the finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. The role will have no supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and resource for the operations and accounting personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, publishing monthly in desired time frame.
  • Report and analyze daily sales.
  • Assist in consolidation of company financials.
  • Establish records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts.
  • Support Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payables teams.
  • Collect, analyze, reconcile, and summarize account information. Report to the CFO the finances of the company.
  • Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closing process in timely manner.
  • Support monthly and quarterly reporting for sales tax, commissions, and royalties.
  • Support in annual budget creation and monthly budget status reporting.
  • Keep information confidential and secure.
  • Develop understanding of accounting and bookkeeping personnel duties, to ensure proper accounting principles are upheld.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance from a four-year college or university; and 2-5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have strong follow up, organizational, attention to detail, time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Physical Requirements

  • Travel: None
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 70% of the day and occasionally walk to nearby facility and inside the office to access files.
  • Constantly operates a computer or other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with managers, vendors etc. and must be able to exchange accurate information timely, and in a clear manner.   
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks, and expansive reading.
