BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Field Engineer for construction technical support for our work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S. Navy facility development, recapitalization, and construction projects. This BAE individual will be responsible for on-site engineering support of the SSP’s construction oversight program. The engineer will participate in the facility design process and perform construction technical lead responsibilities for SSP during construction and commissioning phase. This individual will ensure the SSP specific requirements are developed and incorporated into the facilities, ensuring early detection of issues are identified and corrected.
Position Description and Responsibilities:
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced individual to perform on-site engineering and technical support of facility design, construction and commissioning for our work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S Navy weapon systems projects. This on-site engineer will support the Navy Program Manager responsible for Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) Facilities Acquisition at Naval Ordnance Test Unit, Cape Canaveral, FL in developing the assigned projects from concept to operational stage. This senior position is responsible for review and disposition of construction submittals to ensure proposed vendor materials, equipment and execution plans comply with approved construction contract requirements. The candidate is also responsible to conduct/prepare engineering study reports and will make recommendations to solve facilities issues. The senior on-site technical engineer will have experience in performing construction oversight, reviewing and responses to requests for information (RFIs) and change proposals. The senior position will have previous experience supporting construction of large industrial facilities supporting all associated discipline technical aspects that arise during the execution of the project.
The senior engineer is responsible for providing input to comprehensive MILCON documentation and preliminary construction cost estimates.
This position will require the candidate to coordinate onsite activities for various contractors with access, testing, document submissions, and ensure contractors comply with base policies and procedures. A limited amount of travel to off-site locations could be required.
Position may require generating a moderate amount of correspondence to internal/external customers, other BAE sector government property administrators, and other architectural/engineering personnel. Preparation of presentations for internal/external peers, and customers.
Candidate will also be required to manage and/or support other disciple tasks as needed. Must also work with and support corporate Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) personnel to maintain a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.

Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor of Science Degree in construction management, or similar applicable technical field and at least 8 years of related professional work experience, OR High School diploma and 12+ years work experience or equivalent experience
- Professional experience with design, construction, and commissioning of industrial facilities
- Experience performing requirements and constructability reviews of detailed design submittal packages
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams
Technical Knowledge and Proficiency- Professional knowledge and application Codes and Standards for various disciplines
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS)
- Experience in the design, development,implementation, construction, or commissining of MILCON facilities
Communication- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Good writing skills to document facility requirements and make the necessary reports and correspondence.
Professionalism- Excellent interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues, auditors,customers and vendors.
- Understanding of project managerial relationships and operations.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and make sound decisions while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Good planning, time management and organization skills.
