**Position Overview

**

quality industrial machinery, including CNC machine tools.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Shibaura machine tools at customer sites. This role requires hands‑

on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise, along with a solid understanding of CNC controls and electro‑

mechanical systems. The ideal candidate is self‑

motivated, customer‑

focused, and capable of working independently while delivering high‑

quality service and maximizing customer satisfaction.

**Key Responsibilities

**

  • Travel to customer sites to diagnose and resolve machine tool issues, including troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, programming support, and customer training
  • Install and commission machine tools, including alignment, calibration, and system integration
  • Perform preventive maintenance and recommend improvements to enhance machine reliability and service life
  • Respond rapidly to urgent service calls and critical machine failures to minimize customer downtime
  • Provide telephone and remote technical support when not on-site
  • Complete detailed service reports, diagnostics documentation, and provide technical feedback to engineering teams
  • Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements
  • Any other duties and tasks, consistent with your abilities, which may be assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications

**

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or 3–5 years of equivalent hands‑

on experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of CNC machine tools

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 90% within a multi‑

state region, by car or air

  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one for international travel
  • Ability to cover approved travel expenses in accordance with company reimbursement policies

**Physical & Work Requirements

**

  • Ability to move freely throughout customer and company facilities
  • Ability to focus, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, reach, and lift materials up to 50 lbs routinely and up to 70 lbs as required
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for fine motor tasks and tool operation
  • Visual capabilities including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Ability to remain professional, composed, and effective under stressful conditions
