Job Description Summary
The Field Service Technician Level 2-4 at Okuma America Corporation is responsible for
identifying root cause and corrective action in repairing a variety of Okuma products and
installation of high-tech machines when necessary. Troubleshooting skills include mechanical
alignment, hardware, software, peripheral devices and automation. This position will keep
management informed of status by providing feedback to distribution, end users and Okuma
service management with detailed trip reports. They will also produce technical/how to manuals
strengthening distribution's ability to solve end user problems without Okuma direct support. This
position contributes to the accomplishments of the customer service department through resolving
complex problems that clearly exceeds the scope of distribution's ability.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
• Travel to customer facility to provide troubleshooting and repair support when required
• Travel to customer facility for installation of new introductory model equipment
• Travel to customer facility for installation of retrofits and install design improvements
• Diagnosing and helping our customers with problems either on the phone or by e-mail
• Generate technical bulletins and repair manuals
• Adheres to all company employment policies and safe practices
• Performs other duties as assigned and explores opportunities to add value
Experience/Training/Education
Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CNC controls, servo systems, PLC's, automation, as well as
fundamental mechanical background including precision measurement, machine tool theory,
hydraulics, and pneumatics
5 years of prior machine tool experience (Okuma preferred)
FANUC CNC experience (preferred)
Okuma-Howa product knowledge (preferred)
Prior technical writing experience (preferred)

Technical:
Proficient in the use of precision measuring/diagnostic equipment. Not limited to, but include

Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics a plus
Basic use of hand tools and variety of electrical and mechanical devices, such as precision

Physical and Environmental Elements
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit continuously for 1/4 of the normal work shift, and stand, walk, and reach with hands
and arms for at least 3/4 of the normal work shift
Ability to lift and carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds
Ability to stoop, crouch and reach
Ability to talk or hear continuously
Ability to see clearly to do all work-related tasks (clear or corrected vision at 20 inches or less)
Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 3/4 of the normal work shift including operating a
phone, computer/ electronic equipment, electronic tools, pallet jack, and forklift
Work Environment:
About half of the position’s functions are performed in the office environment with standard
equipment and moderate noise levels (examples: computers, printers, fax, copiers, light traffic,
and phone)
The other half of the position’s functions are performed either at a customer site or in the
Okuma warehouse/ showroom. Will often interact with the production/warehouse environment.
Thus, the employee may work in an open warehouse area where temperatures may be subject
to outdoor conditions in terms of cold and heat. There is exposure to various tools and
equipment as well as forklift operations and corresponding noise levels
