PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on the safe and proper operation of NOV products.
- Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on how to properly operate the system.
- Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner.
- Identify those characteristics of the design that are crucial to the safe and proper functioning of the product.
- Prepare for service jobs including downloading drawings, software, and all procedures required.
- Utilize safe work habits.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides start-up service for newly installed equipment and service of existing equipment.
- Communicates directly with Engineering for Technical advice.
- The Field Service Technician must complete all work himself on components such as piping, electrical, hydraulic, brakes, and clutches to eliminate delays and back charges.
- Obtain a thorough understanding of NOV products and how they are safely operated, tested, calibrated, and how problems are resolved in a timely manner.
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair NOV Lifting and Handling equipment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years preferred of Controls/Electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Must have experience with PLCs and PLC control systems and working knowledge of VFDS.
- Experience must include Allen Bradley RSLogix500/Studio 5000 and Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal.
- Must have experience with Emerson/Rockwell/Siemens HMI displays.
- Knowledge of Lifting and Handling equipment/operations strongly desired.
- Mechanical/Hyd troubleshooting a plus.
- Computer experience/proficiency required - Microsoft Office knowledge is required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
- Valid Driver’s license required – as you will be operating a company vehicle.
- Must provide transportation from home to the office. Transportation to customer’s location will be provided.
- Must have or be able to obtain HUET/BOSIET certification.
- Must have or be able to pass UKOOA/OGUK medical exam for offshore work.
- Meet all land and offshore certification requirements.
- Must have or be able to obtain TWIC.
- Must obtain NOV corporate credit card and maintain an active status per NOV credit card policy.
- Overtime will be required – must be willing & able to work nights, weekend, and on-call 24/7.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics required.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic/control circuits required.
- Ability to utilize various electrical diagnostic tools including multimeters, oscilloscope, and basic hand tools required.
- Ability to interact effectively with customer and contractor personnel.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Able to work well in a team environment as well as self-directed when working independently.
- Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Must be able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
- Ability to meet or exceed standards as established by the department.
- Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
- Work in harsh environments including rain, snow, heat, and heights in excess of 150 feet.
