About the Opportunity
Our client is a privately held manufacturer of custom food processing and automation systems, known for their in-house engineering, fabrication, and controls capabilities. They design, build, and integrate complete systems for processors across North America.
They’re seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to install, commission, repair and train clients on various types of equipment. Provide service and customer support in person at customer facilities. This is a hands-on role that blends technical depth with customer service and time management.
What You’ll Do
- Organizes work by reviewing daily requirement; checking and gathering supplies to help better/service job.
- Install, maintain and repair electronic, mechanical and electrical components.
- Travel to job sites in service area, and work to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
- Be available to work nights or weekends to service emergency needs of our customers.
- Document all installed equipment upon arrival; necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
- Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacements parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
- Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest technologies.
- Identify and report potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, additional services, business potentials, and opportunities).
- Service existing accounts by investigating complaints, conducting test; resolving problems through visits to the customer facility and/or through phone/computer communication.
- Establishes service by studying system requirements; ordering and gathering components and parts; completing installation; performing acceptance tests.
- Keeps personal equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance.
- Documents service and installation actions by documenting processes, and producing timely and detailed service reports.
- Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Document processes for better training of our customers.
- Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization in various departments.
- Build positive relationships with customers
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Must-Have Qualifications
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, plans, and manuals.
- Experience working with 480VAC, 3Ø in an Industrial environment
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
- Observe all company procedures and safety rules.
- Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
- Must be able to work overtime when needed
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in food processing, packaging, or sanitary equipment environments is a plus
- Experience managing service contracts or after-sales support teams
- Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance programs
- Comfortable using project management or ERP systems
