Role


  

Thermal Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer based in the Chicagoland area to join our team. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, warranty service, and billable repairs on process cooling equipment across a 3–5 state region, with a strong emphasis on preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate will travel in a company-provided van, delivering on-site technical support, identifying and implementing effective solutions to equipment issues, and coordinating with internal teams as needed to ensure timely and thorough resolution. A commitment to exceptional customer service and satisfaction is essential.


  Duties and Responsibilities

  • Service, maintenance and start up Thermal Care process cooling systems, ensuring compliance with operational specifications
  • Verify system performance and ensure successful project sign-off
  • Conduct operator training on-site
  • Submit documentation for any outstanding issues and facilitate resolution
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to promote loyalty and repeat business
  • Analyze and resolve equipment issues with professionalism and accuracy
  • Perform remote diagnostics when required
  • Document service activities, including parts usage and resolution details]
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and conduct work in accordance with company policies
  • Exhibit professional appearance and maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship and document events for future reference 

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in process cooling and HVAC.
  • Associate or technical degree in HVAC or related field preferred.
  • EPA Universal Certification for refrigerants required.
  • Must be familiar with chillers and have a solid understanding of thermal dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and PLC logic
  • Proficiency with electronic test and measurement tools.
  • Valid Driver's License  

  

Travel and Availability

  • Willing and able to travel 65–85% of the time, primarily by company van within assigned multi-state region.
  • Flexible to work independently and manage on-site responsibilities with minimal supervision.
