Who We Are

Roberts Sinto Corporation, located in Grand Ledge, MI, is part of the Sinto America Group—the North American subsidiary of Sintokogio, Ltd., a worldwide family of companies with a global reputation for excellence in the manufacturing industry.

We are a leader in the design and manufacture of foundry, surface treatment, and material handling markets. Founded over 50 years ago, we have evolved to offer broad services and equipment for all industrial applications, including Foundry Mold and Core Making, Automation, and Surface Technologies. We are seeking a skilled Service Tech to join our family and drive business success.

Position Summary

As a Field Service Technician, you are the face of Roberts Sinto in the field. You will be responsible for the installation, run-off, inspection, and maintenance of our various product lines, ranging from automated foundry equipment to specialized conveyor systems for the automotive industry. This role requires a blend of high-level technical skill and the ability to maintain positive, professional relationships with our customers. We are looking for a problem-solver with deep diagnostic experience who can independently troubleshoot and resolve intricate equipment issues in high-pressure foundry environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Run-Off: Lead the on-site set-up and "run-off" of new equipment, ensuring systems meet factory specifications and safety standards before handover.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues. Perform emergency repairs to minimize customer downtime in both foundry and automotive plant environments.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance programs to extend equipment life.
  • Customer Training: Provide hands-on training to customer operators and maintenance staff on proper machine operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Reporting & Documentation: accurately document service visits, parts usage, and expense reports. (Note: familiarity with digital reporting via ERP systems like Syteline is a plus).
  • Technical Support: Provide remote technical support to customers and internal teams when not traveling.

What We Want From You

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or associate degree or certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • PLC Experience: 4+ years preferred (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Maintenance Experience: 4+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or field service, preferably within the foundry, casting, or heavy manufacturing industries. Prior experience with work travel is preferred.

Skills:

  • Extensive troubleshooting capabilities, with the tenacity to dig past surface-level symptoms and identify the root cause of complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical control failures.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Physical: Frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to handle tools, and talk/hear. Occasionally required to walk, reach, and lift/move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Environment: Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, extremes of heat and cold, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate.
  • Travel: Ability to travel extensively (up to 75%) domestically and occasionally internationally. Must possess a valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain one).
