Job Title: Field Service Technician

Job Purpose
MUST HAVE repair/install chamber experience in order to be a FST
- Providing service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
- Managing all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks
- Diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining proper solutions
- Additional training will be held in Cincinnati, OH as well as Grand Rapids, MI

Duties and Responsibilities
- Trains customer personnel in use of equipment and maintains high level of focus on customer satisfaction.
- Supervises and/or installs and services equipment by having extensive knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, controllers, hydraulics, calibrators, and pneumatics. Provides telephone technical assistance as required.
- Travels throughout North America and Worldwide when required
- Lead training sessions at Service Seminars or at customer facilities.
- Liaise with engineering to find appropriate solutions for field equipment failures and overall process improvements
- Provides for excellent customer relations and has regular clientele dependent on their expertise.
- Assists local service companies with complications. Implements design changes in field and diagnoses unit control problems. Documents field trips and properly records paperwork.
- Capable of reading and understanding test reports and prioritizing workloads. Must be capable of driving a forklift. Knowledge of electrical safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out, and EPA refrigeration certification.
- Ability to troubleshoot and/or quote such complex units as, but not limited to: large multiple system walk-ins, explosion proof chambers, altitude, agree fluid based systems, remote conditioners, and vibration chambers.
- Lead trainer Service Technician Apprentices in the field, office environment, or on the test line.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
- Maintain and organize fully operation service vehicle.
- Turn in job expenses weekly or bi-weekly fashion for job costing purposes and have company related credit cards paid in a timely fashion and without penalty fees.
- Keep, properly maintain, and turn in calibration equipment at required intervals.
Qualifications
- Have the ability to accurately use measuring instruments and be willing to provide basic tools required for the position
- Be willing to train others as required and possess the ability to understand shop pick lists and travel related to his/her job and accurately report time to job assignments.
- Must be capable of reading and understanding SOP’s and FDA/GMP’s and willing to work in an office environment or travel up to 4 weeks per month as required.
- Two year degree or comparable experience required. Minimum Class II EPA certification and 10+ years’ experience with Cascade Refrigeration and complex Electrical systems.
- Have working knowledge of CRM database and Visual Manufacturing to review and enter data.
- Working knowledge of computer systems, e.g. Industrial Engineering drives, latest version of Windows OS, MS Outlook, and Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Employee must be able to perform simple math functions
Working Conditions
Mostly standing work. Frequently lifting to 25lbs, occasionally lifting up to 100lbs. (Lifting, more than 50lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aides are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work, simple grasping and pushing and pulling. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, crawling, reaching, and twisting with occasional kneeling. Significant portions of travel time may involve extended sedentary periods. Subject to weather and adverse driving conditions when outside. As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear.
