At Baker Hughes, our Field Services team helps customers install, commission, maintain and optimize equipment across oilfield, power generation and industrial facilities. In this role, you will serve as the on-site technical lead for mechanical work on gas turbines, compressors and related rotating equipment. You will perform installation, commissioning, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of rotating equipment at customer sites.

Compensation:
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $47 - $70 per hour, depending on geographic location, skills, qualifications and experience. You’ll be eligible for generous overtime pay, standby pay, and a yearly bonus based on your performance and level. Various other perks and incentives are available.
What you’ll do:
Executing installation, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment and associated auxiliaries.
Performing precision mechanical tasks including alignment, leveling, torquing, dimensional checks, and assembly/disassembly.
Diagnosing mechanical issues and collaborating with technical support teams to define corrective actions.
Leading customer communication, site planning, daily coordination, and supervision of craft labor/subcontractors.
Preparing accurate Field Service Reports, daily logs, punch lists, and technical documentation.
Ensuring full compliance with QHSE requirements, including JSAs, toolbox talks, LOTO, and Permit‑to‑Work processes.
Depending on your expertise, you will specialize in one or more of the following domains:
Centrifugal Compressors
Heavy Duty Gas Turbines
Aeroderivative Gas Turbines
Steam Turbines
Examples of Specialized Responsibilities
Centrifugal Compressors
Conduct minor/major inspections (couplings, bearings, seals, diaphragms, volutes).
Perform alignment, leveling, and troubleshooting of compressor and auxiliary systems.
Heavy‑Duty Gas Turbines
Execute CI, HGPI, MI inspections; conduct laser alignments and borescope inspections.
Lead installation/erection and commissioning of turbine packages and auxiliaries; implement NICs/TILs.
Aeroderivative Gas Turbines
Perform L2/L3 inspections and Hot Section Exchanges (HSE).
Lead installation, maintenance, and commissioning of aero turbine packages and auxiliaries.
Steam Turbines
Lead installation, inspections, and overhaul of steam turbines and auxiliaries.
Perform casing splits, seal and bearing inspections, rotor alignment, and major mechanical adjustments.
What you’ll bring:
A technical diploma and at least five years of field experience with gas turbines, compressors or other rotating equipment performing installation, inspections or maintenance.
Specialization in one or more technologies:
Compressors (BCL, MCL series, Reciprocating, etc.)
HDGT (Frame 5, Frame 7, etc)
Aeroderivative GT (LM2500, LM6000, LMS100)
Steam Turbines
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and follow OEM procedures.
Proficiency with precision tools (laser alignment, borescope, micrometers, dial indicators).
Experience executing upgrades, NICs/TILs, or mechanical modifications.
Strong customer service, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
The ability to work independently, analyze complex issues and provide technical leadership with minimal supervision.
A strong Health, Safety and Environmental mindset and commitment to quality standards.
Willingness and ability to travel at least 70%, including internationally and offshore, without geographical restrictions, and a current or previous TWIC card or eligibility to obtain one.

Preferred qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
Familiarity with optical or laser alignment systems, basic electrical testing, or in-situ winding repairs and rewinds.
