We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Service Mechanic based in Central Indiana to support customers throughout Central and Southern Indiana. Most service work is performed within a 150-mile radius of Indianapolis.

  • Bucket trucks, Digger derricks, Truck-mounted cranes, Utility and vocational trucks, Hydraulic and electrical systems, Diesel-powered equipment.

Position Summary

As a Field Service Mechanic, you will diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain utility trucks and heavy equipment in the field. This role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic skills, along with a commitment to safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair utility trucks, aerial devices, digger derricks, cranes, hi-rail equipment, and related machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled services.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, CAN Bus, and LMI (Load Moment Indicator) systems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical documents.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools.
  • Complete repair orders, inspection reports, timecards, and service documentation accurately.
  • Communicate repair status and recommendations to customers and management.
  • Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.
  • Participate in company and manufacturer training programs.
  • Travel overnight as needed to support customer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, utility equipment, crane, or field service mechanic.
  • Strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Experience with diagnostic software such as Cummins INSITE, QuickServe, DTNA DiagnosticLink, or similar platforms.
  • DOT, ANSI, or Dielectric testing experience is a plus.
  • CDL Class B preferred.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must provide personal mechanic tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing.
  • Comfortable working at heights and around heavy equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
