The Field Service Manager manages a team of crane technicians and lead crane technicians for a branch, or portion of a branch.

Position Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the crane field service department.
- Lead, supervise, schedule, and support crane technicians.
- Dispatch technicians to customer locations based on priority, technician skill level, geographic location, and equipment requirements.
- Coordinate emergency, scheduled, preventive, and warranty service calls.
- Monitor service requests from initial customer contact through completion and invoicing.
- Communicate with customers regarding equipment issues, repair recommendations, scheduling, and service status.
- Review technician service reports, time records, parts usage, and repair documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic crane issues.
- Ensure repairs and inspections are performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable regulations, and company procedures.
- Coordinate parts, tooling, equipment, and other resources required to complete field repairs.
- Monitor technician productivity, utilization, overtime, travel time, and service department performance.
- Review estimates and quotes for field repairs and communicate pricing and scope of work to customers as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and assist with resolving service-related concerns.
- Participate in hiring, training, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions for field service personnel.
- Identify technician training needs and coordinate technical, safety, and manufacturer training.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure technicians follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. Ensure field service vehicles, tools, equipment, and safety equipment are properly maintained and available for use.
- Stay current on crane technology, manufacturer updates, industry practices, and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with customer site visits, inspections, troubleshooting, and major repair projects when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
- At least five years of experience in crane, heavy equipment, or industrial equipment service.
- Prior supervisory or management experience in a field service environment.
- Strong knowledge of crane mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Working knowledge of crane inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, service literature, and parts information.
- Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Planning: ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to-two year time span
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate technically in the products we service.
- Good computer proficiency.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Physical demands: Employee is required to frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, listen, and use feet to operate machinery. Employee is required to frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, including computer, phone, and other office equipment. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling to examine equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to noisier shop environments and may be exposed to unusual environments at customer sites. When performing duties of this job, it is a requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever appropriate.
