American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is seeking a Field Service Electrical Engineer to support diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electric overhead cranes and hoists at customer sites nationwide.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring system safety, reliability, and performance while serving as a technical leader in the field.

Schedule: Full-time | Travel required (overnight and extended travel as needed)

What You’ll Do

  • Perform advanced electrical diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead cranes and hoists
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, including 480 VAC / 3-phase systems
  • Troubleshoot and support PLC, VFD, and industrial control systems
  • Use advanced electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Operate and maintain field equipment such as hoists, fork trucks, and lifts
  • Travel to customer sites nationwide to support service and commissioning needs
  • Work independently while adhering to all safety and quality standards
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and status updates to customers and Service Managers
  • Complete accurate service documentation and reports
  • Support shop or engineering operations as needed when not in the field

 

What We’re Looking For

Education

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)


Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with industrial electrical and control systems
  • Strong experience with relays, fuses, contactors, circuits, and control panels
  • Proficiency using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
  • Experience with PLC and VFD programming and troubleshooting
  • Strong computer skills for reporting, diagnostics, and documentation
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
  • Professional, customer-facing communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience servicing overhead cranes and hoists
  • Knowledge of servo motors, Beckhoff drives, or similar systems
  • DOT certification or willingness to obtain


REQUIREMENTS 

  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9)
  • Eligibility to access information or technology governed by U.S. export control laws (including 10 C.F.R. Part 810, EAR, and/or ITAR), where applicable
  • Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with applicable laws
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug screen in accordance with company policy and randomize drug screens during employment
  • Ability to meet the posted work schedule and work required hours
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Willingness to wear appropriate PPE when in or around the shop areas
  • Willingness to complete required safety and compliance trainings
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct aligned with company values and expectations


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

  • Ability to travel nationwide, including overnight and extended assignments (up to approximately 3 months per year)

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a REAL ID–compliant driver’s license or valid U.S. Passport

  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities and secure customer sites, as required

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform work in confined or tight spaces

  • Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to noise, vibration, weather, and moving equipment


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Field-based work at customer industrial facilities across the U.S.

  • Regular exposure to energized electrical systems, cranes, hoists, and heavy equipment

  • Work performed at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions

  • Required adherence to all safety protocols and PPE requirements
