Position Summary
The Field Service Controls Engineer / Electrician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of EMAG machine tools and automation systems at customer facilities throughout North America and internationally as required. This position specializes in Siemens-based control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, and machine networking. The role serves as a key technical resource for customers during machine startups, service interventions, upgrades, training, and ongoing technical support activities.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

· Install, commission, and validate EMAG machine tools and automation systems at customer sites.
· Perform electrical troubleshooting and repair of machine tool control systems, PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, motors, and related components.
· Configure, diagnose, and optimize Siemens control systems including SINUMERIK, SIMATIC PLCs, TIA Portal, STEP 7, WinCC, and Siemens drive technologies.
· Conduct machine startup activities including system verification, I/O checks, safety circuit validation, and operational testing.
· Diagnose electrical, controls, communication, and automation issues using schematics, software diagnostics, and testing equipment.
· Modify and troubleshoot PLC logic, HMI screens, machine parameters, and control configurations as required.
· Perform machine acceptance testing and support customer buy-off activities.
· Train customer maintenance personnel, operators, programmers, and engineering teams on machine operation, controls, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
· Provide remote technical support to customers and internal service personnel.
· Collaborate with Engineering, Commissioning, Mechanical Service, and Customer Service teams to resolve technical issues.
· Generate detailed service reports documenting work performed, findings, corrective actions, and recommendations.
· Support machine upgrades, retrofits, control modernization projects, and software enhancements.
· Assist with development and improvement of commissioning procedures, troubleshooting guides, and technical documentation.
· Ensure compliance with all customer safety requirements and EMAG safety policies while working on-site.
· Maintain professional customer relationships and represent EMAG in a positive and professional manner.
**Education/Experience: **
· Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Industrial Controls, or related technical field preferred.
· Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent industrial electrical experience considered in lieu of degree.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial controls, machine tool service, automation, or electrical commissioning.
