Description
SUMMARY:
ProFarm Group (PFG) is a subsidiary of Bioceres Crop Solutions, a global provider of biologically derived fertilizers, inoculants, crop traits, adjuvants, biostimulants and pesticides, serving the ever-expanding agricultural markets. PFG focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing nature-derived biostimulants, as well as pest management products from microbes and plant extracts for the effective control of invertebrate pests, weeds, and plant diseases.
DESCRIPTION
Our Product Development/Technical Service Manager in the USA will manage our development program for existing and experimental products and to provide technical support to Marketing & Commercial teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Responsible for planning, implementation and reporting of efficacy and regulatory field studies in the specified geographic area.
- Prepare and implement a rigorous research scale field efficacy program to expand the use of Rizobacter and ProFarm’s existing products on additional crops that will maximize business opportunities within budgetary guidelines, and to meet registration objectives using both small plot replicated studies and large scale evaluations that recognize the economics of the cropping system(s) under evaluation.
- Prepare and implement a rigorous research scale field efficacy program to determine best use practices of experimental materials on crops that will maximize business opportunities within budgetary guidelines, and to meet registration objectives using both small plot replicated studies and large scale evaluations that recognize the economics of the cropping system(s) under evaluation. Objectives include effective application rate(s), application interval(s), delivery specifications (GPA), timing of applications in relations to the pest or crop stage along with crop safety and compatibility with existing cropping practices.
- Provide technical support to Regional Product Managers and Territory Sales Managers in conducting on-farm grower trials that result in rigorous data compilation.
- Prepares written and verbal reports including trial abstracts and scientific data summaries at both macro and micro levels for presentation at internal and external meetings.
- Establish and maintain strong and productive professional relationships with university research and extension personnel and crop consultants within the territory.
- Prepares and presents scientific data summaries to sales, marketing and regulatory teams.
- Assist in training Regional Product Managers and Territory Sales Managers regarding uses of existing products and new products both from MBI and from competitors.
- Provides a lead role in the investigation of product inquiries within the territory.
- Plans and leads tours of R&D field sites for both internal colleagues and external customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum M. Sc. in Entomology, Weed Science, Agronomy, Soil and Environmental Sciences, Horticulture or a related agronomic field.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the research and development of crop protection/techincal product support. Experience can include college level field research if applicable and relevant.
- Experience in crop production systems including detailed knowledge of insect pests and/or plant diseases and/or weed science and/or agronomy or plant physiology.
- Experience working in statistics and experimental design, experience with ARM software is preferred.
- Strong knowledge in Plant pathology is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Valid passport.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
- Ability to extensively use computer keyboard, mouse and monitor.
- Ability to lift at least 40+/- pounds.
- Ability to work in a venue such our manufacturing plant, hotel or other organization’s meeting room, conference, or convention space, possible inclusion of weekends.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, turn and use/walk up ladders.
- Ability to walk in and around agricultural production sites to evaluate pest populations and crop conditions in all weather conditions.
Mental Requirements:
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in workload priorities, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to communicate, advise, negotiate, or influence others as well as build productive working relationships in both academic and commercial settings.
- Ability to utilize analytical skills required to interpret and summarize scientific data and information.
- Ability to utilize planning skills to organize, prioritize, schedule and coordinate work activities for multiple projects.
- Ability to use MS Office suite and experience with ARM10 is preferred.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to utilize commercial means of travel (automobile, train or air) domestically 35-75% of the time; travel is expected during most weeks of the year. These hours may be longer than 8-5 p.m. Overnight travel to annual meetings/conferences (typically up to 5 consecutive days) required; overnight travel to other meetings (typically 1-5 consecutive days); inclusion of weekends may be involved. Possible travel to other countries for internal and external meetings is possible.
