THE ROLE

You will play a key role by assisting modeling and simulation engineers in providing finite element analysis (FEA). Through this position, you will use various simulation tools to assess the performance of Oshkosh products.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern your experience may include:

  • Learning and utilizing various modeling and simulation software tools, including pre and post processing tools like ANSA or META and model solvers like Optistruct or Abaqus to aid in the development of vehicles and system level components

  • Perform model validation and correlation based on available data to assess model accuracy

  • Analyze simulation results to draw actionable conclusions and compose technical reports

  • Use and develop custom software tools to process, analyze, and automate simulation

MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS

  • Student working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field

  • Willing to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the duration of the summer 2026 internship. Summer housing is available to interns whose permanent address is greater than 50 miles from their work location

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT

  • Hands-on vehicle experience (Formula SAE, Baja SAE, etc.)

  • Interest in automotive engineering or motorsports

  • Previous experience with FEA (in particular work in Nastran, Optistruct, or Abaqus, but also experience in Solidworks Simulation or NX FEA)

  • Exposure to python

Pay Range:

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
