Job Overview:


Job Title: Facility Support Technician

Reports to: Department Supervisor at specific Business Unit

FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT

Schedule: Monday - Friday (5:30am-1:30am), and overtime as needed.

  • Production Operator duties to follow


Summary of duties and responsibilities:

  • The Facilities Support Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and professional manufacturing environment throughout the facility. This position supports plant operations through floor cleaning, painting, housekeeping, facility upkeep, 6S activities, and continuous improvement projects.


Key Responsibilities:

Facility Cleaning & Floor Maintenance

  • Operate floor scrubbers safely and efficiently throughout production and support areas.
  • Maintain clean floors, aisles, walkways, and work areas.
  • Remove debris, metal scrap, lubricant buildup, and other contaminants.
  • Perform hand cleaning in areas inaccessible to floor scrubbing equipment.
  • Support departments with cleaning activities during downtime or scheduled maintenance.


Painting & Visual Workplace Maintenance

  • Paint walls, guardrails, equipment, floors, safety markings, and designated areas.
  • Maintain pedestrian walkways, forklift lanes, safety zones, and visual management markings.
  • Prepare surfaces through cleaning, scraping, sanding, masking, and minor repairs.
  • Assist with floor coating and facility appearance improvement projects.
  • Maintain painting supplies and ensure proper storage and handling of materials.


General Facilities Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance, housekeeping, and safety concerns.
  • Replace signs, labels, floor markings, and visual management materials as needed.
  • Assist with minor facility repairs and improvement projects.
  • Support equipment moves, storage area organization, and layout changes.
  • Remove obsolete materials, equipment, and waste from facility areas.

 

Housekeeping & 6S

  • Support plant-wide 6S initiatives and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist departments in maintaining organized and clearly marked work areas.
  • Participate in 6S audits and corrective action activities.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to cleanliness, organization, and safety.


Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance on floor scrubbing equipment.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, or operational issues.
  • Coordinate repairs with Maintenance as necessary.
  • Maintain cleaning and painting equipment in good working condition.


Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals, paints, and related materials.
  • Utilize appropriate PPE for assigned tasks.


Performance Indicators

  • Plant floors, walls, and facility areas remain clean and presentable.
  • Floor markings and painted surfaces are maintained and clearly visible.
  • Housekeeping and 6S standards are consistently met.
  • Facility improvement projects are completed on schedule.
  • Cleaning and maintenance equipment remain operational with minimal downtime.
  • Safety and housekeeping concerns are identified and addressed promptly.


Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating floor scrubbers or industrial cleaning equipment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor maintenance.
  • Ability to mix and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, and stand for long periods.
  • Must be safety-conscious and reliable.


Physical environment/work conditions:

  • Manipulate small to medium sized objects, materials or tools on a routine basis
  • Move light to moderately heavy objects continuously
  • Apply a specific level of strength to move an object
  • Use arms/legs continually and repeatedly over an extended period of time
  • Exposure to water, cleaning agents, lubricants, and general manufacturing noise
  • Move at a moderate to fast pace across specified terrain for extended periods of time
  • Adjust body position while performing tasks
