SUMMARY

Performs Facility Maintenance tasks with minimal to no supervision and directs the activities of the maintenance staff through interaction with employees to ensure efficiency, achieve desired goals, and keep cost within budgetary requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead, supervise, assist, and guide maintenance duties for maintaining and repairing the facility and miscellaneous aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Manages and oversees custodial staff schedules and responsibilities
  • Schedule building maintenance to include electrical, carpentry, environmental control, communications installations, and other work as necessary to maintain structural and systems integrity.
  • Accomplish minor and major maintenance (overhaul) of various vehicles, hoists, generators, hydraulic service units, compressors, and non-powered maintenance platforms, scaffolding, ladders, lifts, etc.
  • Repair and maintain any plumbing necessary.
  • Repair and maintain physical structure.
  • Obtain necessary materials for repairs and required maintenance.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of basic tools to perform necessary maintenance or repairs.
  • Instruct other maintenance workers.
  • Inspect work performed by other maintenance workers.
  • Assure that machinery, equipment, and the facility are properly maintained for efficient production.
  • Inspect, service, and repair ground service equipment and vehicles.
  • Relocate machinery and insure all such items are properly secured and functional.
  • Fuel Farm oversight and compliance
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with company standards.
  • Complete initial / recurrent training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Train maintenance staff in work methods and procedures.
  • Inspect work to maintain safety, quality and appearance.
  • Schedule facility maintenance staff for special projects.
  • General guidance of the Facility Maintenance team.

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent reading, writing and math abilities.
  • 10+ years related experience and / or training preferred in plumbing, electrical, carpentry or general facility maintenance work.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Shielded metal arc welding (stick) and metal inert gas welding (MIG) experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours, when needed. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

  • Read, write, and understand the English language. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • Ability to obtain a US Department of Transportation examiners certificate.

TRAVEL

  • Occasional travel may be required; the employee filling this position must be willing to travel on short notice and possibly for extended periods.

  • Standard office environments. 
  • Exposure to noise, smells, dust and fumes typically associated in an aviation environment.
  • Close proximity to several industrial hazards including electrical, mechanical and chemical.
