SUMMARY:
This position is responsible to assist in the management of maintenance activities, improvement projects, and grounds keeping activities for two buildings located in Bloomington, MN. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include assisting Maintenance and Groundskeeper with:
- Maintenance of the buildings, grounds, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Comply with and keep abreast of all OSHA regulations.
- Contracting with and supervision of outside contractors: plumbers, roofers, electricians, ground keepers, carpet cleaners, lift repair, security system, etc.
- Maintaining and inspecting grounds: cut grass, trim, snow removal, parking lot repair and general upkeep.
- Building improvement projects as needed: contacting and soliciting bids from vendors, following up with payment, planning and scheduling work.
- Conducting and documenting inspection of fire control equipment and sprinkler systems.
- Scheduling, assigning, and performing duties in carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, ventilating, pneumatics and roofing and security.
- Inspecting buildings and equipment for needed repair and maintenance work.
- Working with Supervisors daily to manage repair needs within each department
- Responding to emergency maintenance requests as required; troubleshoot issues to determine cause and solution.
- Working with Drafter and Mechanical Engineer to fabricate & design parts and upgrade & repair equipment
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitudes and a working knowledge of electrical, mechanical systems, and plumbing
- Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly.
- Familiar with local building codes and OSHA regulations, and familiar with all current health and safety regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations.
- Must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels both in and out of the facility.
- Average computer knowledge including basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Machine shop skills preferred (mill, lathe, drill press, electrical pneumatics)
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of progressive experience and responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
- General Safety Training.
- Certifications in electrical and/or plumbing preferred.
- Trade school or apprenticeship a plus
Physical Requirements (Lifting, Bending, Stretching, etc.)
- Ability to tolerate occasional loud noise
- Ability to use and be exposed to Locktite, alcohol, oil, WD40 and grease
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend and move about the facility and must be able to tolerate repetitive motion. Close and peripheral vision as well as depth perception is required.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Some work areas require the employee to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Duties performed, both inside and outside, even in extreme temperatures
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment, may work near moving equipment, and exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise. Primary environment: lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
