Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and overall condition of the facility and supporting equipment. This position performs routine building maintenance, assists with equipment moves and installations, and supports preventive maintenance activities. The role provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing equipment and serves as a development opportunity for individuals seeking to advance into a Mechanical Technician position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general facility maintenance, including painting floors, safety lines, walls, columns, and building fixtures.
- Maintain facility appearance and cleanliness by operating floor scrubbers and other cleaning equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of facility systems and report maintenance concerns.
- Perform basic repairs to building infrastructure, including doors, lighting, fencing, shelving, and work areas.
- Assist with office, warehouse, and production equipment moves.
- Support machinery installation, relocation, and setup projects.
- Participate in preventive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
- Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment as trained.
- Maintain maintenance records and complete assigned work orders.
- Follow all company safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that promote a safe and efficient workplace.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school coursework, trade certification, or maintenance-related training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, manufacturing, construction, mechanical repair, or related fields preferred.
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, motors, conveyors, pumps, and industrial controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and automation systems and read technical documents and schematics.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Experience operating electric scissor lifts and willingness to work at heights up to 30 feet.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Desire to develop technical skills and grow into a Mechanical Technician role.
