Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Manager function shall have the responsibilities for leadership within the organization with regards to facilities maintenance to include but not limited to: equipment procurement, rebuild, conditioning, improvements and operating procedures. Will ensure documentation and implementation of assigned task within the established quality operating system (QOS) to ensure timely error free launches of new equipment as well as existing equipment with uptime that meets established targets. The position is responsible for providing information, advice, designs, and recommendations relative to the procurement and on-going maintenance of facility equipment ensuring that such equipment supports safety, quality, product, delivery, and cost objectives as established.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supports the team’s efforts in meeting or exceeding key measures as defined in the operating plan by ensuring that facility equipment is working efficiently and effectively, specifically helping to improve overall equipment effectiveness, emergency breakdown rates, etc.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all facility equipment meets internal and external safety requirements.

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the repair, maintenance and upkeep of all assigned company assets.

  • Responsible for insuring that all equipment spares, equipment operating and maintenance procedures, documents including prints, vendors, and support equipment are procured, maintained, and controlled in a cost effective and timely manner in accordance with the established QOS.

  • Assures that all facility equipment documentation is current and accurate for product manufacturability, maintenance and costing.

  • Control point for all facility equipment changes; facility equipment prints are maintained to the current revision level.

  • Responsible for ensuring engineering; design; layouts; supporting calculations and specifications necessary for procurement, construction; and conditioning of facility equipment are in accordance to approved parameters, concepts, and performance requirements.

  • Acts as the engineer liaison with manufacturing on introduction of facility equipment and processes and with outside vendors on implementation of new facility equipment and processes related to new equipment.

  • Develops initial Job Safety Procedures (JSP) for all facility equipment coordinating implementation and training with manufacturing.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all facility equipment is released and maintained at the best-demonstrated levels of performance.

  • Conducts and documents facility equipment design review meetings.

  • Performs additional duties as directed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent area of studyTen or more years of maintenance experience required preferably in a production environment

  • Five or more years of supervisory experience required.Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Working knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance principles desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have strong motivational and leadership skills to provide guidance to maintenance team to ensure production floor has resources to meet safety, quality, and production standards.

  • Requires attention to detail and ability to execute to deadlines on multiple projects.

  • Knowledge of the ISO concepts of document control and traceability.

  • Medical device experience and working knowledge of ISO 13485 requirements, GMP and FDA regulations are a plus.

  • Lean experience highly desirable.

  • Expert on effective Lock out Tag out Policies, Procedures and regulatory requirements.
