As a Fabricator/Welder you would manufacture a wide variety of parts in accordance with customer product specifications. In this department you would work frequent overtime to include some Saturday mornings. This position has a base starting wage of $20.57. Skills and experience will be considered when determining starting wage.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Set up and operate a variety of fabricating equipment (welding lathe, drill press, welder etc.) to produce component parts. 
  • Assemble component parts consistent with product blueprints.
  • Work from assembly drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Perform fabricating and production welding on a variety of weldments, requiring a good knowledge of welding technology and the properties of steel.
  • Select welding procedures best suited for type of work and materials involved and vary techniques to ensure that all welds display proper size, penetration, fusion, strength, and appearance.
  • Set-up and operate production machinery.
  • Perform general maintenance of fabricating equipment.
  • Assist in providing cost saving ideas, as required.
  • Scan in and out of labor collection software, as required, to track work hours.
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Operate a lift truck, as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Requires education generally equivalent to 4 years of high school and 1-year related experience in fabricating operations.


Skills and Abilities include:

  • Reading and comprehending simple instructions and written materials relating to fabrication set up and operation and safety procedures.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing and using simple shop mathematics to set up and perform fabrication work.
  • Commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with simple problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • You must possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and the ability to operate fabricating equipment such as hand tools, shears, hoists, saws, grinders, hand benders, drills, and punches.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, you would frequently work in proximity to airborne fumes or particles and regularly work near moving mechanical parts and near sources of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
