FRIDAY-SUNDAY  6AM - 6PM (36 hours per week) get PAID for 40!
$19.35+ per hour ($18.35+/H Shift Premium)

ENTRY LEVEL - No Experience Needed

Are you a self-motivated, team player looking for a position that allows you to continue to learn and grow? SMC Metal is looking for a full-time Fabrication Technician to join our team. No experience is necessary as we offer paid on-the-job training with our skill-based pay system. This means that you will receive additional compensation for every skill that you complete.

Work 36 hours, get paid for 40?  Yes, you read that correctly. Our weekend team gets paid an additional 4 hours for every 36 hour weekend worked.

Starting pay is $18.35 per hour PLUS $1.00 per hour shift premium.  (Additional pay available based on experience)

FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY from 6:00am-6:00pm (36 hours worked, + 4 PAID Hours) + REQUIRED Overtime

Team members are required to work 20 hours of Overtime per month:  4-(5 Hour) OT Shifts per month -OR- 2-(10 hour) OT Shifts per month.  Employees can schedule their OT for any day or shift that works with their schedule. 

Position Description:

Fabrication Technicians are cross trained to setup, program, and run all of our machines which include lasers, turret, EMLK, press brakes and weld. Fabrication Technicians will learn to read and interpret blueprints, use measuring equipment, handle materials, troubleshoot, perform quality inspections, and perform preventative maintenance.


Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each skill satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • No manufacturing experience required.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills to interpret layouts and blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems as they occur.
  • Physical requirements – person must stand for the entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout the shift, and have good balance along with hand-eye-foot coordination.
  • Required to have their own tools (caliper, square, protractor, etc.)
  • Must be self-motivated, team player and have good written and oral communication skills.
  • This is an in-person, team based position, regular attendance is required. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  
Duties may be modified or additional duties assigned.

  • Set-up and operate fabrication equipment including lasers, turret, EMLK and press brakes.
  • Weld and metal finish components as specified by layouts, engineer drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
  • Perform tasks such as selecting operating programs from database, send the program to the machine, select and mount fixtures.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with SMC’s policies and procedures.
  • Set-up and troubleshoot machine as problems arise.
  • Operate the Wilson tool sharpener and sheet lifting crane.
  • Use measuring instruments such as caliper, square, protractor, etc.
  • Ensure quality parts.
  • Operator is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
