JOB SUMMARY
The Press Brake Operator operates a press brake to manufacture equipment and other components from sheet metal or metal plates.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Prepares, sets up, maintains, and operates 55/90/175 ton mechanical and hydraulic press brakes with multi axis back gauge for fabricating sheet metal parts.
- Ensure there are sufficient raw materials available.
- Reads blueprints to determine measurements of each product.
- Operates press brake to bend material into shapes according to specifications.
- Fabricates sheet metal parts to close tolerances +-.005
- Measures and aligns materials to be used.
- Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Assembles items as instructed by supervisor/manager.
- Follows all safety rules and quality standards including all company policies and procedures.
- Performs job assignments in a safe and productive manner while maintaining high quality levels.
- Adheres to standardized work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
- Keeps work areas clean and organized while taking care of all equipment and facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years’ experience setting up and operating hydraulic mechanical press brakes.
- Ability to lift dies and set up the press brake.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to use various measuring tools such as calipers, squares, protractor and measuring tapes.
- Basic computer and math skills
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production environment under tight time constraints.
- Must possess an understanding of production procedures.
- Must adhere to health and safety regulations (consistent use of P.P.E)
- High level of attention to detail
- Must have excellent time management skills and work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand continuously for long periods of time.
- Prolonged periods of pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying materials
- Must be able to lift and transport 50 lbs. at a time
