Job Overview:

Extrusion Operator Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator to join the team, that is located in Madison, WI, 53711. As an Extrusion Operator, you will be responsible for for set-up and operation of extrusion and auxiliary production equipment to produce materials to specification under the guidance of the Production Shift Leader. Additional responsibilities include production efficiency, following manufacturing and safety standards and working to continuously improve the quality and productivity of extrusion operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate extrusion machines to produce products according to specifications
  • Conduct machine safety inspections and ensure all safety protocols are followed
  • Perform machine setups for production runs
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed

Qualifications:

Machine operation

  1. Set-up, operate and troubleshoot equipment to meet product quality** **requirements while maintaining the process control plan.
  2. Ensure maximum efficiency of set-up to include set-up time, materials, production rate and material consumption.
  3. Machine readiness – inspect machinery, equipment and die prior to set-up.
  4. Identify issues which adversely affect product requirements and communicate with appropriate department personnel for resolution.
  5. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning.
  6. Identify nonconforming materials/products and work with shift leader for resolution.
  7. Issue resin material from inventory to line via computer entry.
  8. Operate a forklift to place/load resin and finish roll stock in assigned locations.

**Quality **

  1. Ensure part quality meets established standards.
  2. Perform housekeeping duties.
  3. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  4. Conducts material testing to verify quality specifications, records result and maintains sample library of all tested material by lot.

Communication

  1. Complete all shift documentation/paperwork.
  2. Shift hand-off – go over job status and updates with incoming shift.

Safety

  1. Participate in safety programs.
  2. Follow all established safety procedures.
  3. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

**Minimum Qualifications

**One (1) year manufacturing or related experience, mechanical aptitude; ability to read, write and speak English to meet training, safety and quality requirements. Must be able to pass forklift certification program upon hire.

Desired Skills

Prior machine operation experience; forklift experience; training in Statistical Process Control and Quality Systems; basic computer knowledge and understanding of menu-driven computer applications.

You should be proficient in:

  • Machine Safety Inspections
  • Machine Setups for Production Runs
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
