Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Extrusion Machine Operator to oversee a plastics extrusion and stamping production line in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for equipment setup, safe operation, troubleshooting, quality control, and daily production performance.
The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience operating plastics extrusion, injection molding, or comparable manufacturing equipment, along with strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to train and guide other production team members.
This is an opportunity for an experienced operator to take ownership of a production line, help improve manufacturing processes, and contribute to the development of production standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, configure, and operate extrusion and stamping equipment according to production requirements.
Monitor machine performance and adjust operating parameters to maintain product quality and production targets.
Perform in-process inspections to ensure products meet specifications and quality standards.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
Troubleshoot production equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve more complex problems.
Maintain accurate production logs, maintenance records, and daily inventory transactions.
Assist with equipment installation, startup, and production ramp-up activities.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and training documentation.
Train and support secondary operators and technicians.
Communicate production priorities, assign tasks as needed, and monitor daily output and quality.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, workflow, and production efficiency.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow established safety procedures, including PPE, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
At least 3–5 years of experience operating plastics extrusion, injection molding, or comparable manufacturing equipment required.
Previous experience as a lead operator or in a production leadership role strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and process documentation.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with production records and inventory transactions.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Ability to train team members and help maintain production standards.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing production needs.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shift.
Technical training in industrial technology, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred.
OSHA or other relevant safety certifications are a plus.
