Job Overview:

Our Michigan-based commercial construction company offers architecture and design, design-build, construction management, general contracting, mechanical contracting, and self-performed trade services, allowing clients to streamline projects from initial planning through final completion. We are looking for an Estimator to lead the preparation of bids and proposals for commercial, institutional, and healthcare projects.

¨NBSP;80-90K base salary + large semi-annual bonus structure

Mon – Fri 8am- 5pm

**Requirements:

**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline is preferred

  • Demonstrated commercial construction estimator experience (3 years with a degree or 5 years without a degree).

  • Competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Microsoft Project or Primavera and ability to learn other software as needed.

  • Ability to utilize on-screen takeoff software.

  • Understanding of construction industry practices/standards/ methods, operations, and contract management.

  • Ability to work easily on conceptual estimates and competitive stipulated sum (hard bid) estimates, understanding the distinctions between the strategy requirements of each.

  • Must pass physical, background check, and initial/annual drug screening (marijuana included).

**Key Responsibilities:

**

  • Lead, collaborate, and manage all aspects of project bidding from start to finish.

  • Review bidding documents, including plans, specifications, bidding criteria, and conceptual information.

  • Invite bidders and engage subcontractors and suppliers into the bidding process as needed.

  • Prepare quantity take offs and obtain pricing for materials and anticipated labor.

  • Prepare cost estimate that is organized, comprehensive, and aligned with companies format expectations.

  • Receive & analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals for scope and cost and applicability for the project.

  • Handle pre-bid questions that arise during the bidding process. This includes fielding questions from sub-bidders, requesting clarification from architects/engineers, and distributing responses to affected contractors.

  • Conduct bid reviews with project team concisely and efficiently.

  • Meet project estimate deadlines.
