Job Summary

Serve as a Equipment Technician working in the Pipeline, Processes, and Industrial Services shop located in New Iberia, LA. Responsible for execution of tasks as assigned to include maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipment. Equipment knowledge of Diesel Engines, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Pumps, Fluid Hoses / connections and any other equipment used by the service division. Is operationally qualified, verified, and authorized as required for specific tasks. Has the ability to learn to repair and operate high cfm air compressors, centrifugal pumps, desiccant dryers, torque equipment, portable lathe field machines, with emphasis on triplex pumps. May lead limited scope projects in the absence of a Shop Manager or Lead Service Technician with prior approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work daily with Shop Manager, Lead Equipment Technicians, Field Service Technicians, Project Managers, and maintain communication on progress of work assigned
  • Maintain a line of communication with the Shop Manager and Lead Equipment Technician on equipment needs / repairs
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance including but not limited to: washing, preparation and painting of equipment, testing of equipment, and repairs as necessary
  • Follow equipment repair procedures and equipment checklist procedures
  • Delivery and pick-up of equipment needed for repairs / projects
  • Understand how equipment operates and understand government / customer requirements
  • Complete preventative maintenance and repair logs
  •  Stock shelves with necessary supplies and equipment for job boxes and tool house loadouts
  • Ensure shelves are stocked with working and green tagged “Ready for Use” equipment
  • Ensure equipment in yard/shop is organized and staged in the correct areas according to project demand and quality plan
  • Perform quality checks on equipment
  • Support field staff during job loadouts and returns and ensure all processes are followed
  • Ensure all project loadouts are completed prior to mobilization
  • Coordinate with project managers on 3rd Party Equipment needs for project loading/ return
  • Lead or assist service division project crew with the return and maintenance of all equipment
  • Assist Shop Manager with paperwork process for equipment during project loadout/return
  • Maintain a clean, neat and organized shop / yard
  • Respectful and professional to co-workers and clients
  • Comply with all company policies (Safety, quality, general, SOP’s, etc.)
  • Participation and Compliance with BlueFin HSE and Quality Management System
  • Participate in equipment team call rotation. Available for weekend and after-hours work
  • This position does not directly supervise others
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or GED at minimum
  • Basic computer skills required (MS Office)
  • Minimum of 1 year of equipment maintenance and repair- related experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Follows Quality System Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Clean Driving Record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Service Department policies and procedures
  • General mechanical knowledge of equipment (diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic)
  • Knowledge of and ability to learn to repair and operate diesel driven triplex pumps, air compressors, desiccant dryers, torque pumps/wrenches, centrifugal pumps, portable lathe field machines
  • General knowledge of paperwork, forms, and processes for project and related operations. Includes, but not limited to; Bill of Lading, Manifest, Fluid SDS, Equipment Procedures, Equipment Manuals, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with Managers, Supervisors, Lead Service Technicians, and Service Technicians
  • Manage multiple tasks at once
  • Welding and Fitting skills are preferred
  • Proficient in basic computer programs (MS Office Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently or as a team
  • Analytical skills to solve problems safely and effectively
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Physical Requirements

  • Perform physical labor in hot, cold, and demanding environments
  • Majority of work is performed in local operations shop
  • Fit for duty exam required
  • May travel for local jobs if needed
