This is a hands-on technician role supporting advanced equipment diagnostics and repairds in a shop setting with possible field assignments.
The role is part of an service operation and reports to a Shop Supervisor. You’ll have access to OEM diagnostic equipment, service manuals, parts resources, laptop-based service systems, and full shop and field tooling.
Your responsibilities include:
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrains, electrical systems, HVAC, and electronic/computer-controlled systems.
Perform failure analysis, inspections, equipment setup, adjustments, and in-season service.
Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic software, schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
Complete repairs to OEM specifications and work toward resolving customer issues correctly on the first visit.
Perform field service at customer locations and provide support to other technicians when needed.
Accurately document labor, repairs, service reports, and warranty information using laptop-based service systems.
Recommend preventive actions when you identify conditions that could result in future equipment failures.
Communicate professionally with customers about equipment issues, repairs, and service needs.
Follow established safety procedures in the shop and field.
Help train newer technicians or interns and provide additional leadership support when required.
2+ years of experience repairing large heavy equipment, construction equipment, or agricultural equipment, similar machinery with ability to troubleshoot rather than simply swapping parts.
Strong diesel engine diagnostic and repair skills.
Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and components with ability to read schematics.
Electrical and electronic troubleshooting experience with ability to read schematics.
Experience with computerized diagnostics and electronically controlled equipment.
Strong customer-facing communication skills.
Ability to occasionally lift approximately 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
A valid driver’s license and verifiable safe driving history.
Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and work additional hours during peak seasons.
